Airport Security

Airport Security: (What a joke ... and ill conceived)

It never ceases to amaze me how people, especially so called experts, never take the next step. They see a problem, address the issue with an ill conceived solution and call it a day.

If they really wanted to do the job right, all people passing through an exterior door at an airport should be body scanned, patted down, checked with a wand or be otherwise violated in public. Should a terrorist choose to do so, it is much more logical (and easier) to walk into a crowded airport with a bomb than it is to go through the hassles of getting a bomb onto a flight.
Think about it...A dozen terrorists walk through the front door with briefcase bombs, set them down, walk away, and kaboom...hundreds of innocent men, women and children, dead or dying..No need to blow themselves up, instant gratification for a job well done and they can do it time and again because they are still alive...Opps, I forgot, they want their 99 virgins....But hey, With all of those guys and gals blowing themselves up in the name of "what ever the cause", they must surely have run out of willing virgins by now.

How long do you think that pat downs would continue if all politicians were required to identify themselves to the airport security guys and gals every time they fly. (either on business or with their families and their children)..then be patted down in public view. (Their entire family including their babies, small children, wives  and teenage daughters.)

Yes, we need security measures in place, but child and female molestation in the name of a poorly conceived security policy?...Fire the poorly trained security agency and let the military do it, they have more experience with actual bomb detection than does any private security company.

One last thought... The terrorists must be laughing...especially since they have no respect for women or children...Ha...

KABOOMMMM!!!

Warriors 2

Warriors

Warriors are mythical creatures of legend whose destiny is not to rule but to serve; Not to over power and conquer but to protect. A warrior may be a man, a woman or a child and all heed the call to greatness through servitude to a just cause. A warrior may be a legend or a myth but a warrior will never be without a cause as our need for the warrior is great and continuous.

Measure of a Man

The measure of a man is based upon:
1 - How deep his knee will bend to help the helpless
2 - How far he will travel to protect those in need of his protection
3 - The equality of his compassion
4 - The depth of his love for his family
5 - The measure of his commitment to and equality in morality

The measure of a man is not based upon:
1 - The thickness of his wallet
2 - The peaks to which he may climb
3 - The voice which he uses to proclaim himself
4 - His charitable acts that bring him reward.
5 - His mighty prowess

Country Measures

The measure of a country is:
1 - How well they protect their vulnerable citizens
2 - The equality of their citizens
3 - The equality of application of law to its citizens
4 - The equality of the education of its citizens

The measure of a country does not depend upon:
1 - The type of government
2 - The countries international status
3 - The countries influence abroad
4 - The countries military might

Camels

The promised land:

Over 5,000 years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the promised land."

Nearly 75 years ago when welfare was introduced, William Lyon MacKenzie King , of Canada, said "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this IS the "Promised Land".

Now, the primier of ONtario has stolen the shovels, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels, and mortgaged the Promised Land.

Last night I was thinking about Health care plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, food quality, social security, retirement funds, HST, eco taxes, Enviro taxes, Hydro One increases, smart meters, delivery charges etc....I called Lifeline...Got a freakin call centre in Pakistan...Told them I was suicidal.....They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.

Imigrate - Integrate

Congratulations to our fellow Canadians in Quebec who had the courage and conviction to exhibit their common sense in officially banning the hijab for certain transactions where identity is mandatory .... It's a start. It's a privilege to be allowed to immigrate and to live in this country....not a right. When this hit the e-news a few weeks ago, there was overwhelming support by the readers who AGREED with Quebec 's action.

The letter below says it all...
A Letter to the Editor (excellent letter)

So many letter writers have explained how this land is made up of immigrants. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people why today's Canadian is not willing to accept the new kind of immigrant any longer.

Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to Canada , people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in Halifax and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new Canadian households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home. They had waved good bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture.

Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labour laws to protect them. All they had were the skills, craftsmanship and desire they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out.Canadians fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, China, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Sweden, Poland and many other places. None of these first generation Canadians ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Canadians fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the Freedom as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages was looking for the Ukrainian-Canadian or the German-Canadian or the Irish-Canadian.The people of France saw only Canadians.

And we carried one flag that represented our country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be a Canadian. They stirred the melting pot into one red and white bowl.

And here we are in 2010 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes a Canadian passport and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being a Canadian is all about. Canadians have been very open-hearted and open-minded regarding immigrants, whether they were fleeing poverty, dictatorship, persecution, or whatever else makes us think of those aforementioned immigrants who truly did ADOPT our country, and our flag and our morals and our customs, and left their wars, hatred, and divisions behind. I believe that the immigrants who landed in Canada in the early 1900s deserve better than that for the toil, hard work and sacrifice those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags, fighting foreign battles on our soil, making Canadians change to suit their religions and cultures, and wanting to change our countries fabric by claiming discrimination when we do not give in to their demands.

Its about time we get real and stand up for our forefathers rights, we are CANADIAN! Lest we forget it I am a Native of this Country & proud of it!

NO MORE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
NO MORE not saying CHRISTMAS in stores and our schools!
I Want my Canada of birth BACK.

Graduate Jobs

McJob is slang for a low-paying, low-prestige job that requires few skills and offers very little chance of intracompany advancement. Such jobs are also known as contingent work.[1] The term McJob comes from the name of the fast-food restaurant McDonald's, but is used to describe any low-status job — regardless of the employer — where little training is required, staff turnover is high, and workers' activities are tightly regulated by managers. Most perceived McJobs are in the service industry, particularly fast food, coffee shops, telemarketing, retail and business-to-business copywriting. Working at a low paying job, especially one at a fast food restaurant, is also referred to as flipping burgers.

Mindwalk

Son

We have awaited your arrival with great anticipation and fear, for we have brought you into a world of darkness. The legacy of mankind is to be your inheritance and the dreams of a better life are yours to realize. We your parents have failed to harness the beast within us all and to break it to our bidding. It is the beast within which drives us and lifts us from our ignorance, yet the beast is our master and will not let us rise.

We are condemned to dwell in the world between good and evil and to forever strive towards the light. we are a race of wanderers searching for our existence and our reason. we give to you our wisdom to be your shield and sword. we give to you all our hopes and dreams to be your foundation of strength.

5.0 Earthquake hits Ontario: People evacuated buildings in Ottawa, and people in Toronto felt the ground shake as an earthquake struck a large swath from Quebec to southern Ontario and into the northern States Wednesday afternoon.

Tornado hits MIDLAND, Ont. - No deaths or serious injuries were reported after a suspected tornado ripped through the town of Midland, Ont, Wednesday evening

Severe weather patterns throughout southern Ontario tonight.

Is this a message from God about the G20 summit, or is it just a result of all the heavy baggage and hot air brought into the area by the worlds profiteers?

Heroes?

The word hero is far too often used to describe a person of celebrity status such as a hockey player or musician or actor. Such association to a true hero raises their status in the eyes of the masses but cheapens the true acts or heroism. A true hero or heroine is a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.

This blog has many images of real heroes but not one of a false hero...There is a reason for that.....They just don't fit in...A person of courage or nobility of purpose may be this man...

or perhaps this one

Or, perhaps even this woman

The thing to remember about heroes is that they gave their all for what they believed in, or simply reacted to a situation in an heroic manner. No one who tries to become a hero really does, and those who have heroism thrust upon them, too often die in becoming one. Perhaps then, to be a true hero is to stumble into this category of higher selfless acts or die trying to achieve the impossible for the greater good of man, or one individual.

All soldiers in the Afghanistan mission are treated as heroes by the Canadian people with a special place in their hearts for those who died during that mission. None of these men and women wanted to die, but die they did trying to accomplish an impossible task. They were sent there by a government that does not understand either the mission or the people they sent to do the job. The individuals in that mission understand their purpose, and in spite of the odds against success, do their best to succeed, even if it means dying.

And that attempt meets the definition of a hero in all sense of the definition. Each member of the mission is a hero as they exceed the criteria for becoming a hero whose "feats of courage and nobility of purpose, and especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.", have done this hopefully for the betterment of man.

So the next time you hear of another soldier being driven down the "highway of heroes", remember, that individual gave everything they had, and came home a true hero.

Change of Status

Canada Pensions... Only in Canada

It is interesting to know that the federal Government of Canada allows a monthly pension of : $1,890.00 to a simple refugee plus 580.00 in social aid for a grand total of $2,470.00 monthly X 12 monthsto equal $28,920.00 annual income

By comparison, the Old Age Pension of a senior citizen who has contributed to the development of Our Beautiful Big Country during 40 or 50 years, CANNOT receive more than (Amount/month)$1,012.00 in Old Age Pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement X 12 months $12,144.00 annual income

A difference of $16,776.00 per year

Perhaps our senior citizens should ask for the Status of Refugees instead of applying for Old Age Pension.

The Sack Lunches :

I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight.

'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought. Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me.

I decided to start a conversation. 'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me. 'Petawawa. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Afghanistan.'

After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached the east, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time.

As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to base.'

His friend agreed.

I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill. 'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Afghanistan; it's almost like you are doing it for him.'

Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you like best - beef or chicken?' 'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked. She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class.

'This is your thanks.'

After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room. A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this.' He handed me twenty-five dollars.

Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked. I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane.

When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand and said, 'I want to shake your hand.' Quickly unfastening my seatbelt I stood and took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.

Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm.

When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars!

Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base. It will be about time for a sandwich. God Bless You.'

Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travellers.

As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return. These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little. A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'Canada' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honour, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Big Boys Never Cry

But sometimes they have reason to

And yes, even presidents are not above sheding a tear when there is a good reason...

January 12, 2007 - 12:34PM

Tears rolled down US President George Bush's cheeks as he posthumously honoured a US marine hero, just 24 hours after ordering the controversial deployment of an extra 21,500 troops to Iraq.

The unusual display of emotion by the commander-in-chief came during a ceremony for Corporal Jason Dunham at the White House.

Corporal Dunham, 22, died from injuries after he jumped on a grenade and saved fellow members of his patrol in Iraq.

Mr Bush presented his parents with the prestigious Medal of Honour, America's highest military award.

Corporal Dunham saved at least two lives during a struggle with an insurgent near Iraq's Syrian border.

"On a dusty road in western Iraq, Corporal Dunham gave his own life so that the men under his command might live," the president said. "It's my privilege to recognise Corporal Dunham's devotion to the corps and country."

The presentation was made in the East Room of the White House before a packed crowd that included Corporal Dunham's family and dozens of marines in dress uniforms.

Corporal Dunham's father and mother said after the ceremony that the honour should be shared with their son's fellow marines.

"They're all courageous. It's as much theirs as it is Jason's," said Dan Dunham.

"I've lost my son but he became a part of history," said Corporal Dunham's mother, Deb. "It still hurts as a parent, but the pride that you have from knowing he did the right thing makes it easier."

She said Jason's "second family," the Marine Corps, had done everything that could be asked, but acknowledged they still do not have what they all want most.

"I wanted him here, and I didn't have him," said Deb Dunham.

In April 2004, Corporal Dunham received a report that a marine convoy had been ambushed, according to a marine corps account.

Corporal Dunham led his men to the site near Husaybah, halting a convoy of departing cars. An insurgent in one of the vehicles grabbed him by the throat when he went to search the car and the two fought.

A grenade was dropped, and Corporal Dunham covered the explosive with his Kevlar helmet, which, along with his chest armour plate, absorbed some of the blast. He lived long enough to be transferred to a hospital in the United States, where he died with his parents beside him.

Corporal Dunham was only the second member of the military to receive the Medal of Honour for service in the Iraq war.
