Loss of Thresher on 10 April 1963
There have been many ships lost at sea through design faults, war, accident or carelessness. The Thresher was just one of them taking all aboard to a watery grave. (16 officers, 96 enlisted men and 21 civilians)
Why add this to my blog space...I was just 12 at the time and remember the event very well.
Other moments in history that I remeber well include:
- the death of Winston Churchill, January 24th, 1965
- the death of John George Diefenbaker - August 16, 1979
- Sputnik - 4 October 1957
- The assassination of John F. Kennedy - November 22, 1963
- Louis Mountbatten - 27 August 1979
There are other moments of history passing including a parent, but the most significant was perhaps the least noted by history.....my youth
